Practical information

Getting there

Paris is served by two major international airports: Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Orly (ORY). From CDG, you can take the RER B train (approx. 30-45 mins to city center), a taxi (flat rate €55-62 depending on destination), or a pre-booked private transfer. From ORY, take the Orlyval shuttle to Antony station, then RER B, or a taxi (flat rate €35-41). Private transfers offer the most comfort for a premium trip.

Getting around

Paris has an excellent public transportation system. The Metro is the most efficient way to get around, with extensive lines covering the entire city. Buses are also reliable and offer scenic routes. Consider purchasing a 'Navigo Découverte' pass for unlimited weekly travel (if your stay aligns with calendar week) or individual 't+' tickets. Taxis and ride-sharing services (Uber, Bolt) are readily available. Walking is highly recommended for exploring specific neighborhoods. For a premium experience, consider using taxis or private drivers for convenience, especially in the evenings.

Currency

The official currency is the Euro (€). Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and shops. It's advisable to carry some small Euro denominations for smaller purchases or tips. ATMs are readily available throughout the city.

Language

The official language is French. While many Parisians, especially those in the service industry, speak English, it's always appreciated to attempt a few basic French phrases. Useful phrases: 'Bonjour' (Good day), 'Bonsoir' (Good evening), 'Merci' (Thank you), 'S'il vous plaît' (Please), 'Pardon' (Excuse me/Sorry), 'Parlez-vous anglais?' (Do you speak English?).
